There are two types of burners for household gas stoves on the market, one is cast iron and the other is aluminum alloy. Cast iron is resistant to high temperatures, and its thermal expansion coefficient is similar to that of the fire splitter, but cast iron is easy to rust. In contrast, aluminum alloy is light and does not rust, but the cost of die-casting is high, and the conditions for the use of gas source are limited.

 

Compared with electric stoves, gas stoves are more affordable. Gas stove can provide fast temperature control. The material of the gas stove can conduct and distribute heat evenly, and respond quickly to temperature changes. Ordinary household gas stoves must be durable and corrosion-resistant. For gas stoves, it is best to choose cookware made of stainless steel with aluminum or copper layers.

Technically, any pot or pan can be used on a gas stove, but some materials are more suitable for its open flame cooking method. It is understood that, in terms of its materials, suitable pots and utensils for use on gas stoves include but are not limited to the following, such as aluminum utensils for cooking, stainless steel sauce pot, stackable copper wok, cast iron pot with removable handle, etc. In this article, we will share the materials of pots and pans suitable for use on gas stoves.

 

The range of cooking utensils contained in gas stoves is very wide, and it can be used with almost any type of cooking utensils materials and shapes, including detachable frying pan, cast aluminium frying pan, non stick stainless steel wok, cooking pan with detachable handles, etc. Among them, the wok is particularly suitable for use on open flames. The bottom of the wok with a concave round bottom is more concentrated, and the cooking time will be greatly shortened. Some parts of the pan or frying pan will be in contact with stronger flames more than others. As for the wok or the pan, it depends on your needs.

 

Cooking Utensils Materials for Gas Stoves

 

The cooking materials on the gas stove must be selected to fit the uneven heat and rapid temperature changes of the flame. Like other kitchen utensils, durable cookware should be easy to use and clean.

 

In fact, today's cookware is not made of a single material.

 

1. Stainless steel is durable, non-reactive and corrosion-resistant, but it is not a good heat conductor. In order to compensate for this defect, stainless steel must be layered or coated with thermally conductive metals including aluminum or copper. The cooking utensils on this basis mainly include aluminum clad stainless steel pots and stainless steel square pans, which have excellent heating capacity.

 

2. Aluminum cookware has good heat conduction and heat dissipation effect, so it is very suitable for gas stove. In addition, the disadvantages of aluminum are also significant, including soft and light, easy to curl at high temperatures, easy to be scratched, and strong reaction to acidic foods.

In view of this, aluminum is often anodized. Aluminum forms a hard surface on the oxide coating of the metal, making it scratch-resistant, non-reactive, and non-sticky.

 

3. Copper has good thermal conductivity and can cook food evenly on the gas stove. But it is as easy to scratch as aluminum and reacts with acidic components. The color of pure copper cookware is very beautiful, but it will change the color and taste of food. Copper cookware should be lined or covered with a layer of non-reactive metal, like stainless steel.

 

In addition to the above materials, cast iron, carbon steel and ceramics have their advantages, but they are not perfect products for gas stoves.
